Over the last few months, Minnesota has been pushing back against the inhumane ICE activity that has plagued our community. People have been standing up for our city, some have lost their lives doing so. Families are being ripped apart - it does not matter if you are a citizen. ICE agents continue to terrorize the streets of Minneapolis.
As a team, we have had difficult conversations, ended practice early, and come up with safety plans for our facilities. We have carpooled to practice because our team is afraid to leave their homes. Individually, players and staff have protected those around them, helped with resources, driven people to and from work to ensure they are safe, and protested for what should be basic human rights.
While we have supported each other privately, the Minx have elected as a team to say publicly enough is enough. We hold our core values of inclusivity, community, accessibility, and empowerment close as we choose to extend a helping hand to each other rather than pull back. The news may say ICE is leaving, but Minnesota is still very much under attack. We will continue to stand with and support our community. We mourn those who were taken from us, some forever, and look forward to a day when families are reunited and the long process of recovery can begin. No one should have to choose between showing up for their life or protecting it. Fear has no place on our streets, in our state, or on our field. ICE OUT.
